Shawn Campbell…”Redeemed Gypsy”

Simply said, Shawn Campbell is a joy to be around.  A self-proclaimed, “Gypsy”…Shawn felt early in life that she lacked  roots, lived with a dysfunctional family and a had wandering soul.  One of those roads she found herself drifting on led Shawn to God, love and what she calls a “new and beautiful me.”  Based on taking that same principle, making something old, withered, and damaged into something new and beautiful…she created her “Redeemed Gypsy” line of “beachy”, fun, beautiful works of art made from materials that might normally be discarded, like old vases, shutters, knobs, pieces of wood, etc and make them into something “new and beautiful” just like her. Each and every piece is filled with love and will make a great addition to your home or a welcomed gift.

We are thrilled to have Shawn as one of our new spotlighted artists.  Her pieces can be seen on our FaceBook and also sold on Etsy   http://www.etsy.com/shop/MelBchShop?ref=pr_shop_more and of course in our store Mon-Sat 10-5:30.

Spotlight Artist: Lisa Ladd!

Lisa Ladd is a Melbourne Beach local artist who is famous for her beautiful knit work. She started knitting 6 years ago during her struggle with cancer. She says that knitting was a great companion therapy during her chemo treatment.

Lisa is very passionate about every piece she makes, and loves to share her crafts with the public. It brings such a smile to her face knowing someone has taken home her handmade creation to enjoy and cherish, themselves. I love when Lisa comes into the store because she’s just such a bubbly soul, and it is exhibited through her artwork.

Ms. Ladd has knitted many different specimens for us; she’s always surprising us with something new! From colorful shawls and beach bags, to super soft scarfs and ear warmers, we’re prepared for Florida’s oncoming, unpredictable winter of not knowing whether we want to go to the beach or snuggle up in something cozy!

Lisa loves to try keep trying new things, and keep moving forward. So, come on by the store to see what’s new in Lisa Ladd’s showcasing of wonderful knitted-wear while supporting a lovely local survivor AND your favorite Thrift Shop and Boutique!

Here, we have Lisa surrounded by just a small sample of her creations, along with myself modeling a few of them! Don’t they all just look so great??

See you soon, and don’t forget to follow our blog!! ———->

Love always,

Tori

Spotlight Artist: Dave Graves & Spiral Flutes

Susan & Dave Graves’ Outdoor Traveling Sales Tent for Handcrafted Native American Bamboo Flutes and more..this picture was taken at the CALUSA-SEMINOLE POW WOW

See their new website at : http://www.spiralflutes.com

From Dave:

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN MY BAMBOO FLUTES.

BAMBOO IS AN ABUNDANT GIFT FROM THE EARTH, AND I AM GRATEFUL THAT I HAVE BEEN BLESSED WITH THE ABILITY TO TURN THIS GIFT INTO A BEAUTIFUL MUSICAL INSTRUMENT.

I HAVE BEEN FORTUNATE TO HAVE BEEN GUIDED BY MANY TALENTED FLUTE MAKERS AND FLUTE PLAYERS THROUGH MY EXPOSURE TO THE LOCAL NATIVE RYTHMNS FESTIVAL , FLUTE CIRCLES AND POWWOWS.   I TRAVEL THROUGHOUT THE STATE AND THE EAST COAST ATTENDING MANY EVENTS AND HAVE WON SEVERAL AWARDS.   MANY OF MY CUSTOMERS HAVE COME FROM AND RETURNED TO EXOTIC PLACES, BRINGING THEIR FLUTES WTH THEM.

THE BAMBOO THAT I USE COMES FROM THE GAINESVILLE AREA. THIS VARIETY, ALSO REFFERED TO AS RIVERCANE, PRODUCES A STRONG, DURABLE FLUTE . THE FLUTES ARE HAND RUBBED WITH NON-TOXIC MINERAL OIL TO KEEP THE FINISHED PRODUCT LOOKING AS NATURAL AS POSSIBLE. I FEEL THAT THIS ENHANCES THE SIMPLE BUT ELEGANT BEAUTY OF THE BAMBOO ITSELF.

COMING FROM A MUSICIANS BACKGROUND, I PLACE GREAT INPORTANCE ON TUNING THE FLUTES ACCURATELY TO ENSURE CONSISTENCY OF PITCH. AND COMING FROM A PLACE WHERE AT ONE TIME I KNEW NOTHING OF HOW TO PLAY A FLUTE, I ALSO PLACE GREAT IMPORTANCE ON PRODUCING AN INSTRUMENT THAT IS EASY TO LEARN ON AND PLEASANT TO PLAY.

MAY THE JOURNEY WITH YOUR FLUTE BE MAGICAL . MAY IT OPEN YOUR SOUL TO FIND YOUR SONG WITHIN.

See Dave’s handmade flutes at Melbourne Beach Thrift Shop & Boutique…each comes with a cover, songbook and instructions to start playing the first day!  They make great gifts from $40 up…

Spotlight Artist- Jeremy DeLuca

Jeremy Deluca and his sterling and fine silver jewelry!

Here at the store we think it’s important to get to know a little about each of our artists! Yesterday I had the pleasure to do MINI interview with our own local artist- Jeremy DeLuca! Though he has SO MANY pieces of unique jewelry, he’s a man of very few words (as are most men!) Jeremy told us that he has been practicing the art of jewelry making for two and a half years and that his interest originates from both of his parents being jewelers, the apple never falls far from the tree I suppose! When I asked him what his favorite thing to make was he gave me the simple answer of “Anything custom!” As far as gifts go, he makes charms, earrings, all types of spoon jewelry including bracelets made with sterling or with silver plate, and even some jewelry with fine silver or exotic gems (or maybe even both if you’re lucky!) Overall Jeremy says being a jewler is his passion and he enjoys it!

Come down to Melbourne Beach Thrift Shop and Boutique to see all of Jeremy’s consigned pieces, along with all of the other AMAZING artists that we showcase!

Xoxo,

Shayla 🙂
